After all that we have been through this election season, don’t we deserve to have a CHOICE about who we elect to succeed Jim Rhoades to the 29th District Senate seat that he occupied for nearly three decades? The ONLY way to have such a choice is to cast your ballot one last time for Jim Rhoades .
PJ Symons wants you to believe that if you want effective representation in Harrisburg, he is the only man who can provide it. Logically speaking, Symons’ argument is a fallacy known as a “false dilemma”, where a person intentionally mischaracterizes a given situation to make it seem that you only have two options to solve a problem in order to force you to choose the option that he wants you to choose. Simply speaking, it is a way for a slick politician to manipulate a person, through lack of information or misinformation, into doing what he wants them to do because he knows that an informed person would choose the opposite of what he is advocating.
Secondly, I find it disrespectful to the memory of Jim Rhoades to suggest that if a voter punches his ticket for Rhoades, he would somehow be committing a disservice to himself and his community by leaving them without an advocate in Harrisburg. Jim Rhoades fought for more than 25 years to provide Schuylkill County with the best representation in the Senate. For someone to say that Rhoades’ family wants to disenfranchise the very constituency Jim spent his career helping is disgusting and offensive.
It is not a surprise that Symons has resorted to these types of dirty tactics. He has had it in for Jim Rhoades for years. Hell, his entire candidacy is a last ditch effort at revenge for a perceived slight of his wife at the hands of Rhoades. This latest media blitz on the radio, in the mail, and in the newspaper, is Symons’ final chance to sully the reputation and lasting legacy of the politician he so hated. DON’T LET HIM DO IT!
Don’t let a sleazy turncoat like Symons be the one to sit in Big Jim’s chair. Symons switched parties at a politically opportune time. He only became a democrat because he knew the tide in this county was starting to change. In the Senate, what do you think will happen to his “values” and campaign promises if they become the least bit unpopular? Do you really want a guy representing you in the snake pit we call Harrisburg, who can so easily cast aside his morals, values, beliefs, and ideology?
I say HELL NO. I want someone in Harrisburg who will fight for me. I want someone who will jump down in the foxhole with me even if it means he might be unpopular with some in the Capitol. I want someone with rock solid values from which he builds his entire life. PJ Symons does not meet this criteria. The ONLY man on the ballot who does is Jim Rhoades and if you want the chance to send someone else to Harrisburg like him, you need to cast your ballot for Rhoades on November 4th.
