Holden Drops 20 Points According to Internal Poll

Tim Holden doesn’t like what he sees. Sources inside the Schuylkill County democratic party tell The Clarke Report that Holden’s campaign recently commissioned a poll that found that the 17th District Congressman’s favorability rating dropped more than 20 points over the past few months. The internal poll still has Holden leading, but the trend in favorability has his campaign scrambling to recover.

Most political insiders that I have talked to said that the Holden’s decline can be directly tied to a growing awareness of Holden’s record. They claim that GOP nominee Toni Gilhooley has been uber-effective in revealing his liberal record on everything from extensive earmarks for political cronies to complicity in rising gas prices to partnering with San Francisco liberal icon Nancy Pelosi 95% of the time. Also, Holden had come under fire as of late from the Berks County press for reported sweetheart earmarks for campaign contributors.

This is what happens once voters peel away the the pig roasts and local boy charm. They find an far left liberal who does not espouse Schuylkill County values, but practices San Fransico values. It also explains why Holden’s personal press agent, Ben Wolfgang of the Pottsville Republican and Herald, went into overdrive with multiple fluff pieces over the span of a week detailing Holden’s flip-flops on various issues like offshore and ANWR drilling. In the coming weeks, the reclusive Holden will probably make many public appearance to hand out his infamous cardboard checks. This time, though, I don’t think throwing people’s hard earned tax money back at them and claiming its a gift from you will be enough.

Skooks are finally looking into your record and don’t like what they see. They finally have a candidate in Toni Gilhooley that they can relate to as much as you and they like what she has to say. Why don’t you prove that you have some stones by debating Mrs. Gilhooley on the issues? Hiding isn’t a campaign strategy, Timmy. Its something third-graders do at recess.

  • Holden won’t debate Gilhooley if he can avoid it. Unscripted situations tend to bring out his inner idiot.

Timmy is a hopeless backbench hack. People are catching on.

  • Very interesting, very true. Tim cannot hide his record nor can he deny his votes. It’s high time we have a representative who actually represents us.

  • A group of teenage students sponsored a debate between him and his challenger, Gilhooley, but he declined the invitation. The kids were excited to learn from the experience but I guess it reflects his lack of concern in that arena too. The event was turned into a townhall so Toni Gilhooley’s answers to the students’ questions are all posted on YouTube for anybody who wants to know her more.
